Diabetic Macular Edema
Diabetic macular edema is diagnosed best with OCT and HD photos, and often angiography. The treatment of today is the injection of powerful FDA approved medications which arrest, then reverse the edema, which is leakage from damaged vessels. Our HD photos will show you the blood leaking, and the OCT will show you the bubbles of liquid formed. At each visit you will be able to watch how these abnormalities improve, and as they improve, most eyes will have improved vision soon after. Older medications caused cataracts and glaucoma to form, or burned healthy retina. Our modern treatments avoid most of the side effects of the older treatments.
